Joining VATSAF
Joining VASTAF requires 4 easy steps, wihch are:
- Step 1: Join VATSIM
- Step 2: Change to Africa/Middle East Region
- Step 3: Select VATSAF Division
- Step 4: Join VATSAF
VATSIM is the central organisation, and the members of all regions are registered in a central database on VATSIM's main server.

Also read through the Pilot Resource Center (PRC) or even better, print it out and keep it in your Aviation file. This document contains almost everything you will ever need to know at VATSIM
Unless you are 100% sure that you have not registered with VATSIM at any time before, you should initially check for the possibility of a deactivated account. This can be done by requesting an ID Status Check at the homepage of VATSIM. You'll find the option for that by clicking on Member Services and then Account Changes in the left frame. Amongst other functions you will find a link to the ID Status Check. It would be a good idea to remember this part of VATSIM's homepage, as this is the place where you have to do maintainenance on your account. This includes changing your e-mail and requesting a lost password.

Perform the ID Status Check now. If you are already a member of VATSIM and your account is deactivated, then reactivate it now. If you have lost/forgotten your password request a new one right away.
If you are not registered with VATSIM yet, choose the option JOIN NOW and request a VATSIM ID. The registratrion form asks for a Region.
It is IMPERATIVE that you select region Africa/Middle East, because all the other steps in the registration-process require this to be correct.
Within a few minutes you should get an e-mail with your member data (VATSIM ID and password). Wait for this online, as you can continue with finalizing the setup of your account right away after confirming this e-mail.
After using your new VATSIM data you have to select your division, which is South Africa (VATSAF) division
Finally you are fully registered at VATSIM: You are a member of VATSIM and they know that you want to be in Africa / Middle east and South Africa (VATSAF) division.
One very last step has to be completed now by you: Join VATSAF! This local registration is required as we administer your training. It is really essential that you do this, because your entire career is based on your training records which are maintained by us on a local basis.
